Castle Builders

This documentary miniseries explores the military and political history that influenced the creation of medieval castles across Europe. The programme focuses on the labour required to build the colossal structures, from the towering walls to the rolling turrets. The innovative architecture required a great amount of skill from craftsmen as well as large sums of money to fund materials. Episodes reveal the royals and aristocrats who commissioned the builds for power or glory, and what means allowed them to execute their elaborate plans.
