Hesitant Bud's first dance is threatened when he learns that his parents are going to be there with him.

Jim Anderson attempts to give his children a lesson on the importance of good citizenship, but inadvertently gets his family into trouble in the process.

Jim buys a motor scooter for Bud, but relents when Margaret is against it. Meanwhile, Betty fears she may be gaining weight.

A huge problem arise when Jim discovers he has more guests than football tickets. He has bad news for one person.

Bud think the best decision for himself is to move out and get his own apartment. However, he discover there is a lot of work to being independent.

Jim realises that he is getting older and becomes convinced that he has one foot in the grave. He starts acting as old as he feels.
