India during World War II and the Royal Artillery has formed a Concert Party to entertain the other troops. The 'quit India' campaign is gaining momentum and the sun appears to be setting on this corner of the empire.

Battery Sergeant-Major Williams and Gunner Parkins have identical photographs beside their beds. Could they both be of Edith, the Sergeant-Major's girl-friend in Colchester 20 years ago? Could Edith be young Parky's mum? Could Williams be his dad? And, when Solomons wants to kick the lad out of the concert party, Williams looks like having to post his only-begotten son ' up the jungle.'

The punka wallahs are replaced by electric fans. Rangi and Solly conspire to sort out this dispute.
