Unsatisfied with the troubadour lifestyle, Max dreams of becoming a knight. After a run-in with a thief, Max and Uncle Budrick travel to Byjovia, Budrick's hometown, but when they arrive, it's not as Uncle Budrick remembers it.

Uncle Budrick is held captive as King Gastley's jester in the castle's dungeon. Max sets out to rescue him, accompanied by her friends Simon, Millie, Kevyn, and the world-renowned wizard Mumblin.

Max and the Midknights devise a new scheme to break into the castle and rescue Uncle Budrick.

Max and the Midknights must rescue Budrick, whose head is literally on the line. Gastley cannot lay his hands on them thanks to Mumblin. What they may not be prepared for is Kevyn's news about Conrad.

A prophecy nudges Max and the Midknights towards a new, mystical adventure outside Byjovia. However, they cannot proceed unless they find a way past Gastley and a tentacled creature.

The prophecy instils a sense of assurance in Max about the outcome of her new quest. However, this is short-lived as a hungry chef and a pair of trolls throw a wrench in her plans.
