In the RTF studios, Christine Beauval, the channel's star newsreader, is assaulted. A few days before, thanks to her friend Éric Jauffret, minister of information, her husband Pierre had been made boss of Mondovision.

Christine remembers a machine operator who once hassled her and decides to go and see him.

Christine and Philippe Lefebvre are arrested for Marcel Lindet's murder. Darnet takes the chance to sideline the newsreader in favour of young, beautiful Isabelle. Christine, who suspects her husband of cheating on her, moves into a hotel.

After being sacked, Christine manages to get on air to speak directly to viewers. Recruited by the OAS, a terrorist group, Jean-Claude's first mission is to attack a restaurant.

Pierre and Philippe realise that Christine was with Jauffret, but they can't find her anywhere. Jean-Claude is sentenced to death by the OAS for his failure in the attack.

Pierre must go to Brittany to prepare Mondovision but the event is at risk. Christine hunts for Collette, but there is a belated realisation that Isabelle is dangerously obsessed.
