There's something about vintage clothing that makes host Dawn O'Porter think people should buy old items instead of today's mass-produced clothes: They are unique and don't cost as much as the current stuff. She hopes to make people see her point of view on `This Old Thing'. In each episode, O'Porter acts as a stylist by helping a person make the most of hand-me-downs and thrift-store finds to make a fashion statement. She also takes a look at the history of fashion and showcases some of the most iconic fashion items of recent history. The programme features a team of seamstresses and tailors who ask people to bring them secondhand clothes and accessories to be valued, repaired and revived with a few quick alterations.
