Valerian, from the year 2417, meets Laureline in the year 912. When they return to Valerian's time, they find that Earth has disappeared. Settling in the galactic capital, the two begin a new life as space explorers and mercenaries.

Year 2417. Valerian and Laureline are the only two Earthlings in the entire galaxy. The brilliant but nutty Doctor Zessel has a new invention, a machine called "The Swapper" capable of switching minds with bodies. And while our two heroes are asleep, Doctor Zessel decides to test his new invention on them.

Year 2417. Central Point, capital of the galaxy. Valerian and Laureline are the only two Earthlings in the known universe, which makes them very unique indeed! While attending an auction of rare and unusual objects, Valerian and Laureline are mysteriously kidnapped and find themselves in what looks like the Wild West.

A skilled fighter in both real and virtual worlds, Valerian wins first prize in a holographic robot fighting game. He wins a magnificent all-expenses-paid stay for two in a sumptuous hotel on the wonderful planet Farniza.

Year 2417. Central, Point, capital of the galaxy. No one has ever seen a human, or heard of a planet called Earth. Valerian and Laureline, the only two humans in the galaxy, are given a strange mission by their friends the Shingouz.

Year 2417. Central, Point, capital of the galaxy. It’s not easy being the only two representatives of a planet that disappeared nearly 400 years ago! After quarrelling with Valerian, Laureline decides it’s time they go their separate ways.

Year 2417. Central Point. The Earth disappeared nearly 400 years ago, and Valerian and Laureline seem to be the only two Earthlings in the galaxy. Their friend Prince Baral invites them to a fancy social event at the Galaxy Palace Hotel.
