White Heat

Charlotte, an attractive woman in her sixties arrives at a flat in Tufnell Hill. She was once one of seven students living together in the flat, where one of them has now recently passed away, Charlotte has been made executor of the Will. The remaining five are due to imminently arrive to help her sort through the flat. As Charlotte starts to clear it, her memories are ignited back to 1965, where we meet her as a 19 year old undergraduate embarking on a journey of discovery, love and life.

It's Autumn 1967 and the seven are still living together and about to graduate. As the year ends events happen that will impact on all of them. Charlotte, still compelled by Jack, is fighting the painful admission that their relationship increasingly demeans her.

1973 and the country is in turmoil, stricken by industrial action and IRA bombs. The seven are reunited at the Tufnell Park flat for the first time in five years to greet Alan back from America where he's been working in the newly emerging computer industry. Despite Orla's efforts the evening is not the happy reunion she had hoped for as old tensions are reignited. Alan, on hearing that Jay is gay, surprises everyone, including himself, by his negative and emotional reaction.

Back in 1979 it's the winter of discontent, strikes are causing chaos, rubbish lines the streets and a General Election is imminent. Our seven are now in their early thirties but only Jack, Jay and Orla still live in the flat. Charlotte has finally moved out and broken with Jack and is working at the World Service. Victor is working as a civil rights lawyer. The former flat mates come together in the pub to celebrate Alan and Lilly's engagement.

1982, the year of the Falklands war and Jack has troubles of his own. Jay and Orla, the only ones still living at the flat, have watched him descend into a pitiful heroin addiction. It has now a life or death situation and they ask the other flat mates to return to the flat to help detox him.

1990. Only Orla and Jay still live in the flat but their time there is ending as Jack has decided to sell it. Charlotte and Victor have now moved to Manchester and haven't seen the gang for eight years. The prospective sale of the flat incites Orla to organise a final get together. Victor is the last to arrive bringing with him a revelation which stirs up old ghosts and secrets from the past.
