Student Kaname Sudo accepts an invitation to join an app called Darwin's Game and becomes thrust into a deadly struggle.

After besting a rookie player, Kaname defeats the elite Shuka, who begins working alongside him and teaching him the rules of the game.

The Treasure Hunt Game begins and the players must find the rings hidden around the city; Kaname meets a young girl named Rein.

Kaname and Rein work together to prevent Florist from spying on them using a series of high-tech surveillance cameras.

Kaname forms an alliance with Rein, Ryuji and Hiiragi in hopes of defeating the Eighth Clan; Shuka seeks Kaname's assistance.

Kaname and Ryuji find an unconscious Shuka in the nick of time; Ryuji tangles with a young girl named Sui at the entrance to the underpass.
