Sarah, a fifteen-year-old, is at odds with the world. She dreams of leaving Avetrana and her house. This happens on August 26, when she turns onto via Grazia Deledda, towards the beach. The destination however, is not the sea, but a sad fate.

Sabrina, a local beautician, is very protective of her cousin Sarah. However, their relationship has been different lately. On 26 August, Sabrina waits in vain for Sarah's arrival and begins to have a bad feeling.

Michele Misseri, Sabrina's father, finds Sarah's phone on the morning of 29 September. While everything feels inexplicable, his confession comes in the middle of a live TV show, and the recovery of the body provides compelling evidence.

Cosima always had to take care of everything and everyone. More accustomed to action than words, she has cast a shadow over her family, which she strives to protect. The arrest of her daughter Sabrina is a harsh blow.
