After upsetting the town's upper crust with his strange ways, mechanical engineer Appare finds himself locked up and assigned a chaperone, the swordsman Kosame.

Appare and Kosame search for jobs in Los Angeles to earn a living. Appare takes an interest in a major automobile race, but Kosame just wants to get back home.

Appare and Kosame help a wounded Hototo; Appare challenges a visiting motor company representative to a race to determine who can use the storehouse.

Xialian challenges the team's driver David to a race in order to prove that women are capable racers, but the owner doesn't want to risk any of his vehicles and makes Xialian drive a big piece of junk.

After working nonstop for days, Appare is out like a light and Kosame must drag him to the big celebration on the eve of the race.

The racers hit the first supply point and prepare to take on Death Valley; Hototo learns one of the racers is planning a deadly trap, but soon finds himself in a bind.
