Spenser: For Hire

Spenser is hired by a real estate developer with gambling problems to track down his wife, who's run away. When it becomes obvious that the wife has gotten herself in over her head with some crusading acquaintances, he tries to reconcile the estranged couple and get them both out of the trouble they are in.

Boston private investigator Spenser is hired to protect a Grand Jury witness and winds up as a target for a power-hungry woman who wants to be governor and a police lieutenant with a longing eye on the mayor's desk at City Hall.

Upon the murder of a close personal friend, Spenser and Hawk separately seek to bring to justice the culprits: two very bright thrill-seeking college-age youths. Patricia Clarkson, William H. Macy, and Angela Bassett guest star.

While caring for the orphaned kids of the hit man he killed, Spenser follows a trail to the man's employer. Meanwhile, Susan contemplates abortion after learning she is pregnant.

Spenser is hired to investigate the mysterious death of a young novice whose autopsy reveals her to have been pregnant.

Spenser seeks a mobster's son who apparently has abducted his girlfriend, the daughter of a famed conductor.
