Carmen Villalobos

Carmen Villalobos was one of the most prominent Latin actresses working in Spanish-language television. Born Yorley del Carmen Villalobos Barrios in Barranquilla, Colombia, Villalobos started out her career on the long-running Colombian children's program "Club 10" (1999). Her turn there led her to recurring roles on telenovelas such as "Amor a la plancha" (2003), "La Tormenta" (2005) and "Amores de Mercado" (2006) Villalobos took the lead of Catalina Santana in the remake of the RTI Colombia-Telemundo telenolvela "Sin senos no hay paraíso" (2008), about a beautiful prostitute who wishes to augment her breasts to attract a rich drug smuggler. From there, she went on to star in "Niños ricos, pobres padres" (2009) as Alejandra Paz, a poor schoolgirl sent to an out of control school populated by spoiled rich kids. In 2010, Villalobos went on to co-star in "Ojo por ojo" (2010) as Nadia Monsalve in the romantic drama loosely based on Laura Restrepo's novel, "El Leopardo al Sol." Villalobos went on to play the title role in the Telemundo telenovela "Mi corazón insiste en Lola Volcán" (2011) where she portrayed a young woman incapable of crying. She has since gone on to win an International Emmy in 2015 for her performance in "El Señor de los Cielos" (2013).
