10 Items or Less

TV Show · Comedy

In 10 Items Or Less, John Lehr stars as Leslie Pool, a nerdy thirtysomething who returns home to Ohio to take over his father's grocery store. Though he's been a loser in the business world so far, Pool is confident that he can run the store, even with the stiff competition from the giant Super Value Mart across the street. Pool's optimism is shared by his loyal employees, a motley cast of characters that includes dull-witted grocery clerk Carl (Robert Clendenin), who has a special fondness for the company picnic, and inarticulate-but-studly butcher Todd (Chris Payne Gilbert), who wants to be \"friends with benefits\" with soft-spoken, Renaissance faire-loving customer service rep Ingrid (Kirsten Gronfield). Jennifer Elise Cox is particularly funny as Amy, the Super Value Mart manager who's determined to take Pool down.

Amy catches Richard and Buck secretly distributing flyers in her store's car park, so heads to Greens & Grains to insist that Leslie not only cease distributing the flyers, but that he stop exploiting Jesus for commercial gain. When a "News on the Move" crew arrives to cover the story, Leslie claims that the stain is God’s way of saying that he has always supported the little guy. However, the whole Jesus charade falls apart when it turns out that the stain is a leak caused by Carl's inept freezer repairs.

When a role playing exercise with Richard leads to a painful misunderstanding, Leslie sinks to offering Ingrid a bribe if she will go with him. At the Bisons' dinner, Leslie's efforts to ingratiate himself to its leader, Mr. Sutherland, suffer a setback when it becomes clear that the car he ordered to be towed away earlier belongs to none other than Sutherland's wife. Bag It
When Leslie runs an ad touting Richard and Buck as the fastest grocery bagging team in Ohio, Amy begs to differ. Leslie challenges her to a contest, with the winning store getting $5,000. Leslie holds a locker inspection to determine who will be Richard’s new teammate. After quickly eliminating Yolanda, Todd, and Carl, Leslie decides that Ingrid's neat and tidy locker makes her the perfect candidate. When Amy and her Super Value Mart crew arrive, they are even more confident they will win. Realising that he is the store's only hope, Buck hurries to rejoin Richard for the competition, but when he comes up just one item short in the speed bagging contest, Amy's team are declared the winners. But, when Leslie discovers that their work fell short of the standard required, the judge reverses his decision and declares Greens & Grains the winners.
