In Prayers for Bobby, a family from Walnut Creek, California, is shocked to learn that their 19-year-old son, Bobby, is gay. Bobby’s father and siblings try to come to terms with this revelation, but his mother, Mary, a devout Christian, refuses to accept it and encourages her son to attend religious counseling in an effort to “cure” him.
