In 1844 Ireland, Liam O’Conner (Quarmby), a rogue and a thief, fell madly in love with a noblewoman and unwittingly altered her destiny, leading to her untimely death and his execution. Liam awakens in limbo when a pair of angels offer him a deal: return to earth in the present day alongside his love, Cora McLeod (Stevens), and use this second chance at life to push Cora towards her fated soulmate, Finn Walsh (Roderick). Liam accepts and finds himself in Providence Falls, Oregon, as a police detective alongside Cora as she takes on her first big larceny case.
