Onoda Sakamichi, student of Chiba Sohoku Public High School, rides the 90 kilometers back and forth to Akiba on his mommy bike to buy the anime goods he loves. Sakamichi planned to join the anime club in high school and make lots of friends.

Imaizumi witnesses Sakamichi climbing the high school's steep rear gate slope on his mommy bike while singing. In order to test his strength, Imaizumi challenges Sakamichi to a bicycle race. Sakamichi is surprised.

Sakamichi and Imaizumi's rare gate slope bicycle race has finally begun. Sakamichi pedals as hard as he can so Imaizumi will join the anime club, but is quickly passed by Imaizumi despite his late start.

With the rear gate slope race over, the distance between Imaizumi and Sakamichi closes a little. When Sakamichi goes to Akiba on his mommy bike to buy anime goods, he encounters Naruko Shoukichi, a boy with a Kansai accent riding a bike.

The day after riding his bike around Akiba with Naruko, Sakamichi encounters Naruko again at his high school's store. Naruko encourages Sakamichi to join the bicycle racing club with him, but Sakamichi is still unable to abandon the anime club.
