Haunted by memories of a failed arrest, detective inspector Huw Miller retires; when a seemingly friendly new neighbour moves in, Huw is convinced his past has just moved in next door.

Huw's promise to Alice to forget about Patrick and the Ripton Stalker comes under strain; Huw visits Patrick's repair shop and sees a collection of polaroids; Patrick responds coldly when Huw asks to take a photo so Huw sneaks into Patrick's house.

Patrick charms his way into chatting with Alice and Margot while Huw's desperation sets in; Huw pleads with Alice, who offers an ultimatum.

While the street seemingly turn on Huw, Alice and Margot stand by him; returning from Ruth's funeral, Huw finds a polaroid on the table, telling him Patrick was there; sending Alice and Margot away, Huw vows to confront Patrick on his own.
