Sergeant Catherine Cawood's world stops when the man who drove her daughter to suicide gets out of prison. Meanwhile, a bitter accountant concocts a desperate scheme.

Catherine receives information concerning Tommy's whereabouts, giving her some momentum for her search. Helen must deal with the shocking revelation that Ann has been abducted.

A skittish Lewis is pulled over by PC McAskill. She can hear sounds emanating from inside the van. Tommy's brutal actions to control the situation shock Catherine and the Yorkshire Police Force.

Catherine and Tommy finally meet again and Tommy discovers he's a father; as Catherine searches for the owner of the Milton property, she finds something more sinister, which leaves her fighting for her life.

Catherine sinks into a deep depression when she discovers that Tommy is still roaming the streets; the police finally close in on Kevin.

Daniel arrives at Catherine's birthday party drunk, causing disruption among the guests. At the party, Daniel reveals his version of past events to Becky; Catherine learns that Tommy has been spending time with Ryan.
