Ex-police scientist-turned-author Joe Donovan is called to the scene of a murder, where his name has been written on the wall in blood beside the murder victim; a copycat killing from a real case he documented in one of his books.

Another murder occurs in an identical fashion to the Gibson killing and suspicion falls on the Donovan family.

Donovan pursues a serial killer who takes pretty blonde women as his victims; Donovan thinks he knows the killer and his next target.

When a successful businessman is shot in the face, it appears to be a case of aggravated burglary but Donovan becomes intrigued by the dysfunctional mother and son the man has left behind.

Donovan and the team are called in to investigate a plane from Africa which is believed to be carrying a fatal bug that is killing the passengers.
