Amanda Owen's Farming Lives

Amanda leaves behind her Yorkshire farm to head to Shetland, at the northernmost tip of the UK. Here she joins inspirational young sisters Kirsty and Aimee on their stunning coastal farm, which they took over after the tragic death of their father. As well as hearing their moving story, Amanda gets stuck into daily farming life, including helping the sisters move their cattle across the island, as she finds out how they manage to make a living in such an isolated setting.

Amanda heads to the stunning countryside above Newport in south Wales, where she discovers how the relatively small Castle Farm was reimagined at the start of the pandemic so that it now supports four families.

Amanda swaps looking after her flock of sheep for a herd of pigs, as she joins SJ and Nat, a determined couple who quit high-flying jobs in London to set up a pig farm on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, producing artisan sausages and salami.

Amanda journeys to the stunning hills above Pontypool in south Wales, where she joins Muhsen, Elif and their three children, who swapped the London grind to chase their dream of achieving their own slice of 'the good life'.

In Nottinghamshire, Amanda joins the Rose family on FarmEco, a once traditional arable farm now transformed into an innovative eco-focused business which also doubles as a one-stop shop for community activities and leisure time.

Amanda spends a few days at Llyr Jones' hill farm in the beautiful north Wales landscape. She discovers how this farming family are transforming the traditional hill farming model while preserving the core of this ancient profession.
