Student Baek Ji-eun is kidnapped and killed. Detective Sung-jun investigates and identifies a suspect. His brother, Judge Sung-hoon, presides over the case. The court is uncertain about the suspect's guilt.

Man-chun is found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. When everyone thinks the case is closed, he escapes during transport. Man-chun searches for jurors, intending to seek revenge.

Sung-jun recovers from injury after a hostage situation. He faces his parents' complaints and news of another murder. Sung-hoon believes Man-chun is innocent.

Ki-nam and Moon-kang link the cases to Hope Welfare; their search for their daughters' killer leads them to suspect Sung-jun is Jung Yoon-jae; Moon-kang kidnaps Sung-jun.

Sung-jun escapes Moon-kang with Eun-ki's help; she believes in his innocence; despite public and police certainty of his guilt, Sung-jun must prove his innocence while evading his colleagues.

Sung-hoon doubts Sung-jun's guilt due to lack of evidence and new findings; Kwon Yu-na is attacked by Choi Soon-gil, a suspect in Yeom Hye-jin's murder; Sung-jun investigates Choi further.
