`Brief Encounters', starring Penelope Wilton, Sophie Rundle, Angela Griffin and Sharon Rooney, follows four women as they overcome personal struggles and find success when they take part in a new venture. Set in the early '80s, the period marks the era when Ann Summers party planning is first introduced to the UK market. Shy and retiring, young mother Steph embarks on a career as a party planner, which helps her grow in confidence and make new friendships. Alongside Steph, Nita, who has a wayward husband, Dawn, a woman who has been supporting her father and three brothers, and Pauline, a lonely housewife, all sign up to become Ann Summers saleswomen.
