Flatmates Linda and Tom awake to find a half-naked man in their flat. The pair attempt to piece together the events of the night before and work out which one of them got lucky.

Tom believes he's got the break he's been waiting for when he lands an audition to play a hooligan in a TV crime reconstruction, and Linda receives an anonymous love letter.

Tom is bedridden with a broken leg and receives a visit from a suicidal home help called Shirley. Meanwhile, Linda scores with a hunky motorcycle courier named Joe.

In spite of Linda's evident disapproval, her long-lost sister takes refuge in the flat. Meanwhile, Tom is inundated with offers of television work.

Tom meets a gorgeous Italian named Nino, whom he attempts to impress by pretending to be a top British soap star. Meanwhile, Linda stays at home and entertains Jez over a bottle of wine.

Linda (Kathy Burke) appears on a television show, while Tom (James Dreyfus) announces he is getting married.
