Hopelessly romantic Ben is a New York lawyer trying to build a life with the woman of his dreams, Kate. Ben's coarse best friend and co-worker Larry doesn't believe in love, which leaves him plenty of time to flex his muscles as a third wheel. Kate's roommate, Connie, makes it clear that she finds Larry's presence irritating, but doth the lady protest too much?
