Novelist Hank Moody is addicted to sex and drugs, while struggling to bring up his teenage daughter, Becca. With his inability to say no to temptation, Hank often jeopardises his relationship with his daughter and former partner Karen.

Hank ponders whether or not to continue his blogging job after he discovers the identity of the web site's owner, and reconnects with Meredith, his one-time blind-date disaster. Charlie's relationship with his assistant takes a surprising turn.

Fear and Loathing at the Fundraiser
Meredith convinces Hank to escort her to an environmental fundraiser, and Bill and Karen are there. At the event, Karen makes a scene. Later, Hank stumbles upon Dani and Charlie in his office.

Bill asks Hank for a favour, when he needs a guest speaker for Mia's creative writing class. Later, Hank rants about the Internet on a radio show and Charlie's wife begs for his affections.

Mia wants to pass off more of Hank's work as her own in order to pass her class. Meanwhile, Marcy surprises Charlie at work and Karen invites Hank for a drink.
