Nicolas Cantu

Nicolas Cantu started his career as a child voice actor before making an in-front of the camera jump thanks to his role in "The Walking Dead" (AMC, 2010-) franchise. A native of Austin, Texas, he began acting as a child, appearing in regional commercials. After a move to Los Angeles as a tween, he quickly found a niche that saw him working steadily. He was picked to take over the voice of Gumball Watterson in the animated hit "The Amazing World of Gumball" (Cartoon Network, 2011-19) in 2016. He also found voice work in other high-profile animation projects, voicing Prince James on "Sofia the First" (Disney Channel, 2013-18) and Rowan on "Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures" (Disney XD, 2016-17). On a more limited basis, he lent his talents as well to "Future-Worm!" (Disney XD, 2016-18) and "Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie" (2017). He began making appearances on-camera as well with a guest spot on the sitcom "Teachers" (TV Land, 2016-19). Soon, he was doing similar guest roles on shows aimed at young audiences such as "Raven's Home" (Disney Channel, 2017-), "Bivaardvark (Disney Channel, 2016-19), and "Sydney to the Max" (Disney Channel, 2019-). He also landed a guest appearance on the hit Kristen Bell-Ted Danson comedy "The Good Place" (NBC, 2016-). Cantu made headlines in 2019 when he was named as one of the cast members for the third "The Walking Dead" series, a prequel to the original concentrating on the time just after the initial zombie apocalypse.
