Paulo suspects Teresa is lying to him and follows her, only to realize that she is not rich and lives in a tenement house. Teacher Arturo de la Barrera offers Teresa a scholarship to study law. Aurora meets Mariano and falls in love with him.

Paulo argues with Teresa in the street, but Mariano defends her. Aida asks Paulo to become his ally against Teresa. At a party, Paulo and Aida expose Teresa's reality and humiliate her. Teresa swears she will soon reach her goal of having a lot of money.

Aurora looks for Teresa in the tenement house and reaffirms her friendship to her. Rosa and Juana sew a dress for Teresa, who wears it to go to her interview with Arturo. He offers Teresa to work for him in exchange for a university scholarship.

Teresa realizes Aurora is in love with Mariano, so she speaks badly about him and assures her he still loves her. Arturo looks for Teresa and her parents in the tenement and explains why he gave her a scholarship, while Mariano bursts with jealousy.

Teresa reveals to Mariano that she still loves him. On the first day of university, Teresa informs Paulo and Aida that she will also study law. Arturo invites Teresa to her book presentation, which is the same day as Rosa's competition.

Ruben is captivated by Teresa's beauty. Rosa suffers a heart attack during the competition and is taken to the hospital in serious condition. Luisa asks Arturo if he is interested in Teresa. Rosa's heart does not resist and dies.
