Rémi Dumont, a residential school survivor in search of healing and redemption, wants to share his story by writing a novel. Julianne Turcotte, a small publisher, is interested in his manuscript.

Rémi reveals to Julianne his motives for wanting to share his personal residential school story. Back home, he will have to face the backlash from his son Jean-Charles. Julianne tries to verify the new information she has just obtained.

This same desire to return home will push Rémi in a different direction. Julianne and her brother Antoine try to understand unexpected findings about their family as they receive pushback from their parents.

Julianne goes into labour unexpectedly, which causes the whole family to fear the worst and sets the wheels in motion for an unexpected confrontation.

Odile is trying to convince her old friend that they can still demand justice for their traumatic pasts. Julianne experiences unsettling flashbacks and has difficulty accepting that her mother has developed a softer side towards her newborn son.

The moment of truth has now come for Mrs. Turcotte. Rémi accepts the impacts of his actions and the reality that only time can heal the scars left by his past.
