City of Streamer
In Shanghai, China, in the early 20th century, a few wealthy families have risen to wield enormous power and influence. Many of them, like the conniving Rong family, have risen to the very top, and are guilty of abusing their position to realize great financial and societal gains. Now the Rong family is looking for a tutor to help teach their son Rong Jia Shang (Timmy Xu) and his two sisters. Rong Jia Shang has spent years abroad at a military academy and has much to learn about the world outside the armed forces. His two sisters, meanwhile, need an English tutor so that they can gain admission to a foreign-run school. The Rong family decides to hire Feng Shi Zhen (Jing Tian), who aces the test they set for her and creates a good impression on them. Little do they know, however, that she is a justice-loving spy who is plotting, along with her comrades, the downfall of the Rong family and others like them. But this mission risks becoming compromised when Rong Jia Shang begins to fall for his stunning new teacher. As she gets to know him, Feng Shi Zhen also develops feelings for her student. But the closer they get to one another, the greater the dangers ahead become. And when they discover details of a wide and decades-old conspiracy, they inch close to revealing a truth that will shake the city to its core. “City of Streamer” is a 2022 Chinese drama series that was directed by Jin Chen and Gan Lu.
